Eurocopter, a leading European helicopter manufacturer, has successfully flown
their helicopter above Mt Everest, setting a new world record of high altitude
flight.
On May 14th, pilot Didier Delsalle landed his Ecureuil/A-Star AS 350B3 at 8,848
meters atop Mt Everest, the tallest peak in the world. As per International
Aeronautical Federation provision, the chopper maintained the altitiude in
flight for two minutes (to claim the record) before flying back to Lukla base
camp, reports said.

"To reach this mythical summit definitively seemed to be a dream; despite the
obvious difficulties of the target to be reached, the aircraft demonstrated its
capability to cope with the situation sublimated by the magic of the place,”
Everest.net quoted Delsalle as commenting immediately after the successful
flight.
The manufacturing company has claimed that Ecureuil has proven to a
multipurpose, reliable and comfortable aircraft, which can perform in extreme
conditions.
The helicopter is believed to be handy in rescue operations.
